Role Summary
Join the Fab 6 process and equipment engineering team in Manassas to start up, develop, and optimize semiconductor manufacturing processes. Primary goals are yield improvement, cost and productivity reduction, risk management, and resolving manufacturing line issues.
This entry-level role emphasizes data-driven and AI-enabled process optimization, failure analysis, and cross-functional execution of process improvements.
Experience Level
Entry-level - New college graduate; suitable for recent graduates. No specific years of prior professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, establish, and improve process conditions and technology to meet product quality and reliability goals.
- Use data analysis and AI-assisted approaches to improve yield and reduce production costs.
- Lead and execute process improvement projects, including AI-enabled automation initiatives.
- Set up, monitor, and optimize process parameters across semiconductor equipment using data-driven methods.
- Evaluate and qualify new equipment, materials, and digital manufacturing solutions.
- Perform abnormality analysis and root-cause investigations; apply FMEA, 8D, SPC, and statistical methods.
- Support predictive analytics and continuous process improvement activities.
- Coordinate baseline qualifications and collaborate with suppliers to meet quality, cost, and risk objectives.
Requirements
Must-have skills and abilities:
- Experience analyzing data and making data-driven decisions using statistical methods and tools (examples: JMP, MATLAB, Excel, SPC tools).
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical processes or equipment issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work a compressed 12-hour shift schedule and perform duties while wearing cleanroom attire.
- Familiarity with failure analysis, FMEA, 8D, or SPC methodologies for process control and yield improvement.
Nice-to-have:
- Coursework, internship, project, or work experience in semiconductor manufacturing, process development, or troubleshooting.
- Basic programming or scripting (Python, SQL, MATLAB, or similar) and exposure to data analytics tools.
- Experience with technical equipment, laboratory tools, or manufacturing processes.
- Exposure to AI, machine learning, automation, or digital manufacturing solutions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
