Formal Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Work on formal verification of CPU and GPU microarchitectures as a member of NVIDIA's Central Formal team based in Bengaluru. Build and maintain end-to-end formal verification flows, create and optimize proofs and assertion libraries, and collaborate with architects, designers, and verification teams to ensure design correctness.
Experience Level
Entry-level (minimum 2+ years industry experience in formal verification techniques).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include designing and executing formal verification activities and automating verification flows:
- Specify, implement, and maintain an integrated end-to-end formal verification flow.
- Develop scripts and automation to streamline the verification process.
- Review formal setups and proofs with design and verification teams.
- Maintain and extend assertion libraries for simulation and formal verification.
- Identify key DUT behaviors and create verification plans and cover properties.
- Develop verification environments including environment assumptions and assertions.
- Apply formal techniques (model checking, equivalence checking) to prove design correctness.
- Debug RTL to identify root causes of failure scenarios.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for this role:
- Minimum 2+ years of industry experience applying formal verification techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent scripting skills for automation.
- Solid knowledge of CPU architectures and digital logic design.
- Understanding of abstraction techniques for effective verification.
- Hands-on experience with HDLs such as Verilog / SystemVerilog.
- Familiarity with temporal logic assertions.
- Experience with formal verification tools.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience verifying CPU/GPU unit or microarchitecture blocks using formal methods.
- Participation in complex verification projects that used formal techniques for closure.
- Mentoring junior engineers or interns.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics & Communications, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized engineering college (specified in the source).
