RTL Design Jobs, Level - Entry or Early Career

Job Title

New College Grad - Engineer, ASIC Digital Design

Role Summary

Micron's ASIC Logic Design team develops RTL for DRAM memory controllers and subsystems. This role implements and validates SystemVerilog RTL, supports simulation and chip bring-up, and collaborates with analog, verification, physical design, and validation teams to deliver production-ready ASICs. The position uses scripting and AI-enabled tools to improve workflows and engineering efficiency.

Experience Level

Entry-level - New college graduate. 0–2 years relevant experience (internships, academic projects, research, or industry experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include RTL development, verification support, and silicon bring-up.

  • Design and implement SystemVerilog RTL for DRAM memory controllers and subsystem components.
  • Develop and validate HDL models; perform simulation and co-simulation to verify functionality and performance.
  • Collaborate with analog, verification, physical design, validation, and other cross-functional teams to integrate and deliver designs.
  • Support chip bring-up, debugging, validation, and root-cause analysis during silicon bring-up.
  • Develop scripts, automation, and apply AI-enabled tools to improve design workflows and productivity.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience. Degree requirements are listed under Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: Experience with digital logic design and RTL development using SystemVerilog.
  • Must-have: Understanding of verification methodologies and high-speed digital interfaces.
  • Must-have: Experience with scripting or programming for automation (Python, Linux Shell, or similar).
  • Must-have: Basic understanding of analog and mixed-signal concepts relevant to high-speed interfaces (PLLs, DLLs, CDRs, CMOS).
  • Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication and ability to collaborate across engineering teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with DRAM interfaces, memory controller design, or memory-system reliability concepts.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with industry-standard ASIC tools (synthesis, linting, equivalency checking, formal verification, simulation).
  • Nice-to-have: Prior exposure to silicon bring-up, lab validation, or root-cause debugging.
  • Nice-to-have: Interest and experience using AI-assisted tools or large language models to improve engineering productivity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
