Job Title

New College Grad — Electrical Design Engineer (SIG)

Role Summary

The Electrical Design Engineer will design and develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic hardware for advanced semiconductor test systems within the Systems Integration Group (SIG). The role covers the full hardware lifecycle: concept, schematic and PCB design collaboration, simulation, validation, deployment, and sustaining support.

The team builds test platforms used in semiconductor manufacturing and product validation and works cross-functionally with engineering, operations, procurement, and suppliers.

Experience Level

Entry-level — new college graduate. Suitable for candidates directly out of an undergraduate program or with equivalent early-career experience.

Responsibilities

Design, validate, and support electronic hardware used in semiconductor test systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Design analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits from concept through implementation and validation.
  • Evaluate and select electronic components to meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
  • Create schematics and collaborate with PCB designers to produce optimized board layouts.
  • Perform circuit simulation and analysis using industry-standard tools.
  • Debug, test, and validate PCB assemblies using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads).
  • Develop technical documentation: specifications, design documents, test plans, and validation reports.
  • Develop scripts and automation to improve design efficiency, test automation, and data analysis.
  • Support prototype deployment, customer validation activities, issue resolution, and design improvements during sustaining phases.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Experience with PCB schematic capture and EDA tools (examples: Siemens Xpedition, Cadence OrCAD, KiCad).
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools (examples: LTspice, PSpice) and performing circuit-level analysis.
  • Hands-on experience operating laboratory test equipment: digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads.
  • Ability to debug and validate PCB assemblies and to work with manufacturing/test teams on prototype issues.
  • Practical scripting or programming skills to support design automation, test automation, or data analysis.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional engineering work.

Preferred (nice-to-have):

  • Experience designing mixed-signal systems for test or semiconductor applications.
  • Experience supporting products through prototype development, deployment, and sustaining engineering.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and large language model prompting to improve engineering productivity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field is required. A Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
