Job Title
New College Grad - EDA/CAD Engineer
Role Summary
The Memory CAD Engineering organization develops design automation, workflow integrations, and engineering productivity solutions for custom memory design teams. This role on the AI Design Enablement team applies AI/ML, LLMs, and advanced automation to semiconductor IC design, layout, verification, simulation, and CAD workflows to accelerate development and improve design quality.
You will partner with design, layout, verification, and CAD teams worldwide to identify and deliver AI-enabled tools, agents, and integrations that improve engineering productivity and tape-out readiness.
Experience Level
Entry-level β new college graduate. Suitable for candidates with limited professional experience; internships, academic projects, or research in relevant fields are appropriate background.
Responsibilities
Deliver software, automation, and AI-enabled solutions that improve IC build workflows and engineering productivity.
- Build, develop, and deploy software, automation, and AI-assisted solutions across physical build, validation, modeling, and tape-out activities.
- Develop and enhance AI-enabled tools, agents, and workflow automation to improve engineering productivity and design team efficiency.
- Collaborate with global design, layout, verification, and CAD teams to identify and implement high-impact automation and generative AI opportunities.
- Build and maintain CAD tools, workflow integrations, and supporting technical content for design teams.
- Evaluate, qualify, deploy, and integrate EDA tools, LLM-based capabilities, and AI-enhanced workflows for practical custom IC design challenges.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience applying AI, ML, LLMs, Generative AI, or advanced automation to solve engineering problems.
- Strong programming skills in Python with experience developing maintainable software or automation tools.
- Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, AI-assisted workflows, and/or agent-based automation concepts.
- Knowledge of CMOS design, custom layout, circuit verification, and semiconductor design fundamentals.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with custom memory design (DDR, LPDDR, HBM, NAND) or physical verification flows and tools (e.g., Calibre DRC/LVS/LPE).
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, SKILL programming, parameterized cells, or custom design environments.
- Experience with circuit simulation tools (HSPICE, Spectre) and familiarity with digital verification methodologies.
- Experience integrating LLM APIs, AI assistants, or agentic AI into engineering tools; familiarity with PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Linux development environments.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
