New College Grad - DRAM Design Engineer

Role Summary

Micron’s DRAM Design Engineering Group (DDEG) advances memory innovation by designing and analyzing digital and analog circuits for DRAM products. The role supports silicon-to-systems development and works with global design, verification, and manufacturing partners to meet cost, quality, reliability, and time-to-market objectives.

Targeted at new college graduates, the position focuses on schematic and layout work, circuit simulation, validation, and tape-out support.

Experience Level

Entry-level (New college graduate). Suitable for candidates with 0–2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, validation, and cross-functional support across the product lifecycle.

  • Design, analyze, and optimize digital, analog, memory, and logic circuits; develop schematics and support layout and verification.
  • Perform chip layout, circuit checking, parasitic modeling, and document design specifications.
  • Support design validation, reticle experiments, tape-outs, and evaluation of semiconductor devices.
  • Lead layout tasks including floorplanning, placement, and routing; modify designs based on product requirements and logic diagrams.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Test, Probe, Process Integration, Assembly, Marketing, and verification teams to ensure manufacturable, high-quality designs.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools where applicable to enhance design analysis and debugging efficiency.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools:

  • Experience developing and evaluating digital and analog circuits for memory products.
  • Ability to model and simulate integrated circuits using SPICE and Verilog.
  • Working knowledge of Synopsys tools and Cadence Virtuoso.
  • Experience reviewing product specifications and logic flowcharts to implement semiconductor designs.
  • Comfort working in AI-enabled environments or willingness to leverage AI tools for engineering productivity.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in design and development of volatile or nonvolatile memory technologies.
  • Knowledge of advanced memory technologies such as ferroelectric memory, wafer bonding, and advanced packaging.
  • Familiarity with small-signal sensing techniques and high-voltage reliability considerations.
  • Exposure to applying AI-assisted techniques for automation or verification efficiency improvements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. (Position is aimed at new college graduates.)
