Associate Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Hands-on validation engineer responsible for testing and validating high-speed semiconductor devices and modules in a Bristol R&D lab. Works with design, product, test, and applications teams to develop test approaches, build validation solutions (hardware, software, documentation), execute measurements, and produce validation reports.
This role includes structured mentorship and hands-on training in test automation and high-speed signal integrity.
Experience Level
Entry-level β 0β2 years relevant experience; designed for recent graduates.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include developing and executing validation plans, automating tests, and documenting results.
- Support new product design meetings and develop test approaches for evaluating new products
- Assist in building validation solutions covering software, hardware, and documentation
- Identify and set up appropriate bench-top test equipment for validation
- Develop test automation using Python or LabVIEW
- Collaborate closely with designers, product, test, and applications engineers
- Participate in validation review meetings and contribute findings
- Create clear, accurate validation reports
- Perform hands-on testing of high-speed optical components, ICs, and modules at data rates of 10 Gbit/s and above
- Take high-speed lab measurements and build knowledge of signal integrity and PCB schematic/layout using Altium
Requirements

- 0β2 years relevant experience; recent graduate or equivalent entry-level experience
- Genuine curiosity for electronics, test, and measurement and a willingness to learn quickly
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; effective team player
- Strong self-motivation and ability to remain focused in a fast-paced R&D environment
- Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving
- Willingness to learn test automation (Python or LabVIEW) and high-speed measurement techniques
- Comfortable working hands-on in a lab with bench equipment
- Nice-to-have: prior exposure to Python or LabVIEW, high-speed signal integrity, Altium PCB tools, or optical component testing
Education Requirements
BSc or MSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (EE/ECE) or a closely related discipline. This role is targeted at recent graduates.
