Job Title

New College Grad - Design Engineer, DRAM Technology and Products

Role Summary

Entry-level design engineer role on Micron's DRAM technology and product engineering teams. The role focuses on circuit and semiconductor design, simulation, layout, and silicon validation for memory products.

The position works cross-functionally with design, verification, product engineering, test, process integration, assembly, and marketing to deliver reliable, manufacturable memory solutions.

Experience Level

Entry-level (new college graduate). Suitable for candidates with recent undergraduate or graduate degrees and limited professional experience; typically 0–2 years.

Responsibilities

Design and validate circuits that meet power, performance, area, and reliability targets for DRAM products.

  • Design, layout, simulate, and optimize analog and digital memory circuits and semiconductor devices.
  • Develop and support schematic blocks such as memory arrays, control logic, address decoding, datapath circuitry, and internal test logic.
  • Perform circuit verification, parasitic extraction analysis, design-rule optimization, and debug to improve functionality and yield.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test chip strategies and support silicon validation.
  • Apply AI-enabled tools and automation to improve design efficiency and analysis workflows.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and abilities expected for this role.

  • Basic understanding of memory array architectures, memory circuits, and semiconductor device operation.
  • Experience with circuit simulation, setup, debugging, and analysis using industry-standard simulation tools.
  • Ability to interpret device specifications and translate requirements into functional circuit designs.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; able to present technical concepts to peers and management.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience designing semiconductor circuits or memory products.
  • Knowledge of circuit layout, parasitic extraction, and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) methodologies.
  • Familiarity with SPICE, Verilog, or comparable design and verification tools.
  • Understanding of architecture trade-offs for power, speed, area, and product performance.
  • Experience using AI-enabled solutions, data-driven approaches, or automation to improve engineering productivity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Master's or other advanced degrees in EE or related technical disciplines are acceptable where applicable.
