Job Title
New College Grad - CMOS & Metallization Test Structure Design and Layout
Role Summary
Design and layout memory cell-based test structures (TEGs) to support process development, silicon validation, failure analysis, and health monitoring. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement, verify, and document test structures on advanced semiconductor technologies.
Experience Level
Entry-level / New college graduate. Role targets recent graduates and early-career engineers (Master's required; graduated within the last 2 years).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, validation, and documentation of silicon test structures and supporting analysis.
- Create and implement memory cell-based test structure solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Interpret device-under-test (DUT) definitions and develop complete, high-confidence test element groups (TEGs) for silicon validation.
- Analyze failure mechanisms, perform parametric correlation and debug activities, and validate design accuracy.
- Monitor silicon performance and health through parametric testing and related analyses.
- Verify and maintain test structure documentation and associated parametric data.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required. Preferred skills list follows.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso and Calibre.
- Strong knowledge of circuit build, layout, schematic development, and verification (DRC, LVS, HSPICE).
- Understanding of semiconductor device physics, parametric testing, and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and data-driven decision making.
-
Nice-to-have: Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, SKILL, UNIX shell).
- Experience with silicon-based design debug and learning cycles.
- Advanced knowledge of semiconductor processes, mask development, OPC techniques, memory architectures, fabrication processes, and failure analysis.
- Experience applying AI for automation of technical or non-technical processes.
- Proven ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies, and concepts.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Microelectronic Engineering, graduated within the last 2 years.
