Multi-Media Post-Silicon Validation Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Multi-Media Post-Silicon Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Work on multimedia/imaging IP validation and integration for silicon platforms. The role covers post-silicon and emulation-level bring-up, low-level software/driver development, functional and performance validation, power and debug testing, and production test development.
Collaborate with architects, designers, verification, firmware and software teams to define bring-up requirements, implement test plans and automation, and resolve HW/SW issues.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically expects around 6+ years of related experience in systems/debug/integration, embedded software, or hardware engineering.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include device and system validation, debug, and integration across emulation and post-silicon phases.
- Bring up hardware platforms and perform board-level and SoC bring-up activities.
- Develop low-level/bare-metal software and drivers (C/C++) for device bring-up and validation.
- Create and execute functional, performance, power and manufacturing tests; develop test plans.
- Develop test automation and scripts (Python preferred) and use version-control tools.
- Debug HW/SW interactions using emulation and in-circuit debug tools; analyze traces and logs.
- Validate multimedia subsystems (camera/image processing, video compression, computer vision/XR/AR, GPU, display).
- Work with signal-integrity and high-speed interface issues (MIPI, etc.) and lab test equipment.
- Document findings, present results to cross-functional teams, and support RMA or manufacturing processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for this role.
- Significant embedded software development and system integration experience (C/C++, Python, Java, Shell, RTOS).
- Experience with emulation, in-circuit and post-silicon debug tools and methodologies; board bring-up experience on ARM-based SoCs.
- Familiarity with ARM CoreSight, compilers, linkers and low-level toolchains.
- Experience validating high-speed interfaces and addressing signal-integrity issues.
- Hands-on experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.) and JTAG/Lauterbach Trace32 debugging.
- Test-plan development, automation scripting, and familiarity with device test workflows.
- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, debugging skills, and ability to take ownership of issues.
Nice-to-have
- Knowledge of Verilog/SystemVerilog, FPGA design, DFT/DFD, ATE/ATPG workflows.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) or neural-network inference on silicon.
- Understanding of low-power design, performance and thermal trade-offs.
Education Requirements
Degrees: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in science or engineering fields. The posting specifically references Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical fields. (The posting associates degree levels with experience expectations: Bachelors with multi-year experience, Master's or PhD with correspondingly fewer years.)
