MTS Software Development Engineer
Role Summary
Senior individual contributor responsible for developing and owning performance benchmarking and automation infrastructure for AMD platforms. Work includes building cross-platform benchmarking pipelines, automating ISV applications and games, and collaborating with hardware and platform teams to analyze and improve system and SoC performance.
Experience Level
Senior β individual contributor; typically 7+ years of relevant software engineering and systems-level performance experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, and operating automated benchmarking workflows and the supporting infrastructure across multiple OS platforms.
- Develop and maintain automated benchmarking workflows using commercial ISV applications and games to evaluate CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and platform performance.
- Design and implement microbenchmarks and workload-aware tests to characterize system and SoC performance.
- Ensure benchmark repeatability, result integrity, and controlled variance across platforms.
- Build and maintain automation and orchestration frameworks for workload execution, result collection, and analysis.
- Improve reliability, observability, and scalability of automated performance runs.
- Integrate application code, scripts, and platform-specific tooling into unified benchmarking pipelines and collaborate using Git workflows.
- Create cross-platform execution and control harnesses for Windows, Windows on ARM, macOS, and Linux; implement lightweight GUIs where needed.
- Debug complex performance issues with hardware tracing, power, and optimization teams and translate raw data into actionable insights.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills followed by relevant nice-to-have experience.
- Must-have: Strong object-oriented programming background; experience with C, C++, and/or C#.
- Must-have: Proven system-level debugging and troubleshooting skills across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Must-have: Experience with concurrent programming, threading models, and synchronization primitives.
- Must-have: Proficiency with development tools including debuggers, profilers, and Git-based source control.
- Must-have: Experience writing microbenchmarks and automating real-world applications or games into scalable test suites.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Qt or .NET frameworks, MVVM architecture, databinding, and lightweight GUI tooling.
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to OS-level development on Windows, Linux, and/or Android.
- Other: Ability to work independently, provide technical leadership, and collaborate across software and hardware teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
