Job Title

MTS Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Design, develop, test, and optimize systems-level software and tools that support AMD hardware, compilers, operating systems, networking, and distributed model training/inference across GPUs and nodes. Work on performance-critical software components and collaborate with cross-functional on-site and offshore teams to deliver production-quality solutions.

Work involves profiling and optimizing system and application performance, debugging low-level software, participating in code reviews, creating tests and documentation, and contributing across the software development lifecycle. Position may allow remote work.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Typical experience: 2 years in the role or a closely related engineering role (with a Master's degree), or equivalent combination (Bachelor's + 5 years).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include systems-level development, performance optimization, and cross-team delivery.

  • Research, design, develop, test, and debug operating-systems-level software, compilers, and distributed software for semiconductor and AI workloads.
  • Profile system and application performance; identify and resolve bottlenecks using profiling tools.
  • Design and implement strategies for distributed model training and inference across multiple GPUs and nodes.
  • Implement low-level GPU kernel optimizations and tune code for hardware efficiency.
  • Participate in code reviews, author unit tests, and produce design and implementation documentation.
  • Collaborate with on-site and offshore engineering teams to deliver software on schedule.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Education requirements are in the Education Requirements section below.

  • Minimum: 2 years experience in CUDA; Linux and Windows internals; deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow or PyTorch); C, C++, or Python; software debugging on macOS/Linux/Unix; and Git/GitHub.
  • Minimum: 1 year experience in low-level GPU kernel optimization and performance profiling/optimization tools.
  • Experience applying engineering principles to design, testing, and troubleshooting of system software.
  • Ability to work across the full software development lifecycle and participate in code reviews and documentation.

Education Requirements

Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required. Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in those fields plus five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the role or a closely related engineering position. Foreign equivalents and equivalent experience combinations are allowed.
