Job Title

MTS IO/Clocking Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the IP Design team to design, develop, optimize, verify, and provide technical support for high-speed IO and clocking IP used in Micron DRAM products. The role focuses on equalization, bandwidth extension, and analysis of IO impairments, clock jitter, and duty cycle distortion to meet system timing targets.

Position requires relocation to Micron headquarters in Boise, Idaho.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting specifies advanced industry experience (see Education Requirements for degree and years guidance).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, analysis, and cross-team technical collaboration.

  • Innovate, design, optimize, and verify high-speed IO and clocking circuits for new DRAM products.
  • Apply high-speed circuit design techniques and evaluate timing and jitter sensitivity of IO data and clock paths at circuit and full-chip levels.
  • Develop modeling, analysis, and simulation methodologies to capture circuit performance and its impact on product and system specifications.
  • Compare silicon performance to simulation results; support silicon correlation and validation with Product Engineering and SI teams.
  • Collaborate with process integration and transistor modeling teams on next-node process challenges.
  • Supervise layout work and enforce layout practices to minimize parasitic impacts for high-speed circuits.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, plus preferred qualifications.

  • Must-have: Proven track record designing high-speed IO interfaces, timing, and clocking circuits with silicon success; strong communication skills; ability to multitask across product families and validation efforts; ability to supervise layout for high-speed designs.
  • Nice-to-have / Preferred: Prior DRAM circuit design experience; channel modeling and characterization; transceiver noise and timing budget analysis; equalization techniques and signal-integrity knowledge; understanding of device physics and CMOS processing; experience mentoring junior engineers; experience using AI/ML and scripting (Perl/Python).

Education Requirements

Minimum MSEE plus 10 years of industry experience, or BSEE plus 12 years of industry experience. (Degrees specified: MSEE, BSEE.)
