MoHE-Intel MDC Elite Internship Program 2026

Role Summary

This is a paid internship program run by Intel in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. The intern will receive structured training (Synopsys and Intel-specific), gain hands-on experience with pre- and post-silicon activities, and work with the Silicon and Platform Engineering Group.

The role is on-site in Penang/Kulim and focuses on learning silicon validation, debugging, and the hardware-software subsystem stack while collaborating with global engineering teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Open to Year 3 undergraduate students.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities during the internship include:

• Complete specialized Synopsys training and associated viva (5-week course).
• Participate in Intel training on pre-silicon and post-silicon flows and practices.
• Perform hands-on lab and validation tasks on silicon platforms and subsystems.
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving silicon failures across hardware and software layers.
• Collaborate with local and global engineering teams and contribute to technical reports and status updates.

• Must-have: Knowledge of computer system architecture; understanding of a subsystem hardware-software stack including onboard hardware components, connectors, device drivers and applications; experience programming in C.
• Must-have: Highly motivated, curious, and a team player with an interest in identifying and resolving silicon failures.
• Nice-to-have: Prior hands-on lab or validation experience, familiarity with embedded systems or microelectronic tools.

Education Requirements

Open to Year 3 undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Microelectronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
