Job Title

Module Development Engineer

Role Summary

Lead development and optimization of semiconductor manufacturing processes, equipment integration, and device architecture pathfinding to support Intel's foundry technology roadmap.

Work within Foundry Technology Manufacturing, collaborating with equipment and material suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams to improve process performance, yield, and production efficiency. On-site role based in Hillsboro, OR.

Experience Level

Entry-level / early career. The posting expects at least 6+ months of semiconductor-relevant experience; preferred candidates have 2+ years of technical experience in semiconductor processing.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing processes, evaluating feasibility, and integrating enabling technologies with suppliers and internal teams.

  • Design, develop, and optimize advanced manufacturing processes, including material selection, parameter tuning, metrology, and system design.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and pathfinding for innovative device architectures and manufacturing roadmaps.
  • Implement and validate equipment modifications to increase efficiency and production output.
  • Collaborate with equipment and material suppliers to evaluate and integrate enabling technology solutions.
  • Perform process feasibility and characterization using simulations and experimental methods.
  • Monitor industry trends and technical advancements to align development efforts with semiconductor needs.
  • Contribute to cost-effective technology roadmaps with stakeholders and suppliers.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and technical skills, followed by preferred/nice-to-have items.

  • Must-have: Hands-on semiconductor process experience (examples: thin-film deposition, ion implantation, thermal annealing, etch processing); demonstrated problem-solving and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must-have: Experience performing process characterization and basic engineering analysis (theoretical simulation or practical testing).
  • Must-have: Ability to collaborate with external suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams to integrate materials and equipment.
  • Nice-to-have: 2+ years of technical experience in semiconductor processing, materials, and characterization.
  • Nice-to-have: Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and process characterization methods.

Education Requirements

Minimum: PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Electrical Engineering is specified. The posting also indicates qualifications may be met through a combination of industry experience, internships, coursework, or research.
