Module Development Defect Inspection Engineer

Role Summary

Lead development of module/process technology and defect inspection approaches to enable high-volume manufacturing and future device architectures. Provide process integration, equipment and metrology solutions, and feasibility studies to meet device and production goals.

Work with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to develop, qualify, and transfer process and equipment changes into manufacturing. This role requires regular onsite presence.

Experience Level

Entry-level (requires approximately 2–3+ years of relevant semiconductor or module engineering experience depending on degree).

Responsibilities

Primary duties include technical development, integration, and transfer of module and defect-inspection technology into manufacturing.

• Drive technology development and process integration to enable high-volume manufacturing and future roadmaps.
• Design and develop manufacturing processes, repair/reverse-engineering solutions, and equipment/metrology systems.
• Perform path-finding, feasibility studies, simulations, and practical engineering to qualify new process flows and device architectures.
• Recommend and implement equipment or process modifications to improve production efficiency and yield.
• Partner with materials and equipment suppliers to develop enabling solutions and cost-sensitive roadmaps.
• Stay current on industry process and material trends to inform technology strategy.
• Collaborate with yield, operations, and cross-functional teams to resolve defects and scale processes.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required; preferred items are noted.

• Hands-on experience in semiconductor processing, wafer-level assembly, or cleanroom manufacturing environments (must-have).
• Experience with process development methodologies, statistical process control, and manufacturing process improvement (must-have).
• Technical expertise in module engineering or fab process/hardware technology development (must-have).
• Metrology fundamentals and development experience (preferred).
• Familiarity with equipment automation development, project management, or data analysis tools for process optimization (preferred).
• Ability to work onsite regularly and collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams (must-have).

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related STEM field. Typical experience expectations: Bachelor's +3 years, Master's +2 years, or PhD (experience not specified). Qualifications may be met via a combination of relevant industry experience, internships, coursework, or research.
