Job Title

Modem HW Design Verification Engineer (AI‑Driven Next‑Gen Modem Hardware Development)

Role Summary

Join Qualcomm's modem verification organization to develop and execute hardware verification strategies for next‑generation modem designs. The role combines conventional design verification with AI/ML‑assisted and agentic‑AI automation to accelerate coverage closure, improve debug efficiency, and increase verification throughput.

The engineer will work on verification planning, building reusable testbenches/environments, and collaborating with system, firmware, and RTL teams to deliver first‑time‑right silicon.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Minimum experience guidance ranges from 1–2 years (depending on degree) with preferred candidates having 5+ years of industry verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification tasks and integrating AI/ML techniques into verification flows.

  • Define and execute verification plans and closure strategies for modem and subsystem RTL.
  • Design and implement reusable verification environments and testbenches.
  • Develop constrained‑random tests, assertions, and coverage models; monitor and close coverage gaps.
  • Leverage GenAI/ML and agentic‑AI automation to assist test generation, regression optimization, and debug.
  • Collaborate with RTL designers, firmware, and system teams to resolve design issues and ensure silicon readiness.
  • Improve debug efficiency and verification throughput through automation and tool development.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or preferred for the role.

Must-have:

  • Experience with verification planning, testbench architecture, assertions, and debugging.
  • Hands‑on constrained‑random verification using SystemVerilog with UVM/OVM and familiarity with functional/code/assertion coverage.
  • Proficiency in programming (C/C++) and scripting (Python, Perl); strong Unix/Linux competence.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Object‑oriented programming skills and/or RTL design exposure.

Nice‑to‑have:

  • Experience with Generative AI, ML, or agentic‑AI verification automation and AI‑guided test generation.
  • Knowledge of wireless modem technology, DSP, and 4G/5G 3GPP physical layer standards.
  • Familiarity with Verilog/VHDL, SystemC, simulation acceleration, formal verification, and HW/SW co‑verification.
  • Experience with verification automation frameworks, Makefiles, XML, and build/test automation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum experience guidance tied to degree: Bachelor's + 2+ years, Master's + 1+ year, or PhD. The posting also accepts related work experience as an alternative to formal degrees. Preferred: BS/MS with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
