Modem Hardware Design Verification Engineer, Staff
QualcommJob Title
Modem Hardware Design Verification Engineer, Staff
Role Summary
Senior design verification engineer focused on AI-driven verification methodologies for next-generation modem hardware. The role executes verification plans, builds reusable verification environments, and integrates GenAI/ML-assisted flows to accelerate coverage closure and debug.
Experience Level
Senior. Preferred experience: 5+ years relevant industry experience; minimum experience varies by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities and delivering robust verification environments for complex modem designs.
- Define and execute verification plans and coverage goals for modem/subsystem RTL.
- Design and build reusable testbenches and verification environments (constrained-random, assertions, coverage).
- Develop and apply GenAI/ML-assisted and agentic-AI verification automation to speed test generation and regression optimization.
- Debug failures across RTL, firmware, and system interactions to support first-time-right silicon.
- Integrate simulation acceleration, formal methods, and HW/SW co-verification when appropriate.
- Collaborate with RTL, firmware, system, and validation teams to resolve issues and deliver product requirements.
- Implement verification automation, scripting, and regression infrastructures to improve throughput.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items marked below.
- Must-have: Strong verification planning, testbench architecture, assertions, and debugging skills.
- Must-have: Hands-on constrained-random verification using SystemVerilog with UVM/OVM, including functional/code/assertion coverage measurement.
- Must-have: Experience with Verilog/VHDL and familiarity with C/C++/SystemC.
- Must-have: Proficient scripting (Python, Perl), Unix/Linux shell, Makefiles, XML, and verification automation frameworks.
- Must-have: Strong OOP programming skills and/or RTL design exposure; effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with Generative AI, ML, or agentic-AI-based verification automation and AI-guided test generation.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Background in wireless/wireline modem technology, DSP, or communication systems; 4G/5G 3GPP physical layer knowledge is a plus.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with simulation acceleration, formal verification, and HW/SW co-verification.
Education Requirements
Requirements: Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent work experience. Minimum experience varies by degree: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, PhD +2 years. Preferred: BS or MS with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
