Job Title

Modem Hardware Design Verification Engineer — AI‑Driven Next‑Generation Modem Hardware Development

Role Summary

Join an advanced modem verification organization to plan and execute functional verification of complex wireless baseband and subsystem designs. The role integrates traditional design verification with GenAI/ML‑assisted flows and agentic‑AI automation to accelerate coverage closure and improve debug efficiency.

The engineer will build reusable verification environments, apply constrained‑random and coverage‑driven methodologies, and work closely with system, firmware, and RTL design teams to ensure first‑time‑right silicon for high‑performance modem products.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical candidates meet the minimum experience guidelines below; preferred candidates have 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Define and execute verification plans for modem and subsystem RTL designs.
  • Design and implement reusable verification environments and testbenches.
  • Develop constrained‑random tests and assertions; drive functional/code/assertion coverage closure.
  • Leverage GenAI/ML and agentic‑AI automation for test generation, regression optimization, and debug assistance.
  • Perform root‑cause debug and collaborate with RTL, firmware, and system teams to resolve issues.
  • Use simulation acceleration, formal verification, and HW/SW co‑verification where appropriate.
  • Automate verification flows and integrate with continuous regression frameworks.
  • Document results, verification metrics, and provide recommendations to improve verification efficiency.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Hands‑on experience with SystemVerilog and UVM/OVM testbench methodology, including constrained‑random verification and coverage-driven approaches.
  • Strong verification planning, testbench architecture, assertions, and debugging skills.
  • Proficiency in RTL languages and software: Verilog/VHDL and C/C++.
  • Scripting and automation experience (Python, Perl, Unix/Linux shell, Makefiles, XML).
  • Familiarity with simulation acceleration, formal techniques, and HW/SW co‑verification workflows.
  • Good object‑oriented programming skills and/or prior RTL design exposure.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience applying Generative AI, ML, or agentic‑AI to verification automation, AI‑guided test generation, or ML‑based regression optimization.
  • Background in wireless/wireline modem technology, DSP, communication systems, or knowledge of 4G/5G 3GPP physical layer standards.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of relevant engineering experience; OR Master's in those fields plus 1+ year of relevant experience; OR PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: BS or MS with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
