Modem Design / RTL (Senior Staff)
Role Summary
Lead RTL design and integration for one or more flagship modem core IPs. Work with cross-functional SoC teams to deliver RTL microarchitecture, implementation-ready designs, and debug fixes through silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior - candidate is expected to have extensive front-end ASIC RTL experience (see Requirements). Minimum qualifications also specify degree-plus-experience options; see Education Requirements.
Responsibilities
Accountable for architecture, RTL delivery, team leadership, and cross-team integration to meet product schedules and silicon targets.
- Define and refine microarchitecture from early exploration to detailed specification.
- Own RTL development, optimization, and review to meet power, performance, area, and timing objectives.
- Integrate IP into SoC-level designs and collaborate with verification, implementation, and post-silicon teams to resolve issues.
- Debug complex cross-domain issues, propose workarounds, and recommend fixes.
- Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to a team of engineers.
- Plan and drive project execution and delivery milestones.
Requirements
Technical must-haves and core skills required for this role.
- At least 10 years of front-end ASIC RTL design experience.
- Strong micro-architecture skills and RTL coding in SystemVerilog / Verilog / VHDL.
- Hands-on SoC design and integration experience.
- Knowledge of AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB), SoC clocking/reset/debug architecture, and common peripherals (USB, PCIe, SDCC).
- Experience with multi-clock designs.
- Exposure to synthesis and static timing analysis (STA).
- Familiarity with front-end tool flows (lint, CDC, etc.) and front-end/verification practices.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, communication, and leadership skills; able to work with geographically distributed teams.
Education Requirements
One of the following is required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 5+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR PhD in those fields with 4+ years of hardware engineering experience.
