ML/AI Junior Compiler Engineer

Role Summary

The Compiler Engineer will develop ML/AI compiler features and tools for embedded processors used in automotive and edge SoCs. The role sits in the Global Compiler Team and focuses on enabling high-performance inference on NXP semiconductor platforms.

Work involves implementing compiler passes, collaborating with architecture and software teams, and contributing to both proprietary and open-source compiler toolchains.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing compiler and ML model optimization features for embedded hardware and collaborating with global teams to integrate and deploy those features.

• Design and implement AI/ML compiler technologies to optimize models for embedded hardware using C++ and LLVM.
• Develop compiler tool features targeting ARM and RISC-V CPU cores.
• Create and optimize compiler passes and code generation components for inference workloads.
• Collaborate with core architecture teams and internal consumers to define requirements and validate compiler features.
• Contribute to development, testing, and deployment cycles across a worldwide engineering team.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items are noted.

• Must-have: 1+ years professional experience with compiler technologies such as LLVM/MLIR, LLVM IR, Clang, LLVM pass framework, optimization pipelines, code generation, and linkers.
• Must-have: Proficient in C++ and Python.
• Must-have: Experience with ML frameworks and toolchains (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, MLIR, XLA, TVM, TensorRT).
• Must-have: Embedded systems programming experience.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of graph compiler pass optimizations for AI workloads and lowering models into efficient IR.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with graph-level optimizations (fusion, tiling, scheduling).
• Experience contributing to open-source projects and ability to work effectively with remote, distributed teams.

Education Requirements
