Job Title
Mixed Signal Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Define and perform pre-silicon functional validation for mixed-signal designs, components, and integrated circuitry. Deliver validation methodology, infrastructure, tests, and debug to ensure designs meet performance, power, and area targets while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typical expectation is multiple years of relevant industry experience (see Education Requirements for specific degree/experience paths).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing validation activities and communicating results to stakeholders.
- Define, develop, and execute pre-silicon functional validation plans for mixed-signal IP, SoC blocks, and components.
- Develop and maintain validation infrastructure (monitors, behavioral checkers, coverage) and test environments.
- Implement validation tests using SystemVerilog and verification methodologies.
- Debug functional and triage failures; perform root-cause analysis and resolve mixed-signal issues.
- Test interactions between mixed-signal features and across interfaces to ensure correct integration.
- Review proposed design changes to assess impact on validation plans, tasks, and schedules.
- Publish validation reports, review results, and communicate findings to architecture, design, verification, board, platform, and manufacturing teams.
- Collaborate with teams to maintain and improve debug and validation strategies and processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.
- Experience with IP or SoC development, verification, or integration using SystemVerilog/OVM/UVM.
- Experience writing validation plans and implementing them using SystemVerilog.
- Proven debug and failure-triage skills for mixed-signal designs.
- Experience developing pre-silicon validation infrastructure and test environments.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Regular onsite presence required to fulfill essential job responsibilities; role is eligible for a hybrid work model.
- Preferred: 2+ years experience with DFI/DDR/LPDDR protocols and DDR PHY or Memory Controller verification.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another STEM field with 3+ years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s degree in those fields with 6+ months of relevant experience. Qualifications may also be met via a combination of industry experience, internships, coursework, or research.
