Mixed Signal IC Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Full‑custom physical layout engineer responsible for converting analog and mixed‑signal schematics into manufacturable layouts for advanced FinFET processes. Focus on high‑speed analog/mixed‑signal blocks and their integration into larger SoCs/D2D PHYs.

Remote role based in the United States.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Experience guidance: approximately 10+ years in analog/mixed‑signal layout.

Responsibilities

Deliver high‑quality full‑custom layouts and support verification and integration into larger designs.

• Perform full‑custom layout of analog/mixed‑signal blocks (PLLs, VCOs, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, bandgaps, comparators, clock generators, high‑speed I/Os) from schematic to GDSII.
• Develop block and top‑level floorplans, placement, and routing that manage area, matching, parasitics, congestion, and integration constraints.
• Apply layout practices to control parasitics (R/C), coupling, IR drop, and electromigration to meet noise, timing, and power goals.
• Drive physical verification closure (DRC, LVS, ERC, DFM, Antenna) and support post‑layout extraction and simulation.
• Collaborate with circuit designers and SoC integration teams to deliver silicon‑ready blocks.

Requirements

Must‑have technical skills and experience.

• Strong full‑custom analog/mixed‑signal layout background on high‑speed blocks (PLLs, VCOs, ADCs, DACs, clock generators, high‑speed I/Os, comparators, LDOs).
• Proficiency with Synopsys Custom Compiler or Cadence Virtuoso for custom layout.
• Experience with Synopsys ICV or Siemens Calibre for physical verification (DRC, LVS, ERC, DFM, Antenna).
• Deep experience in CMOS/FinFET nodes (preferred experience with TSMC or Samsung 12nm–2nm) and delivered silicon.
• Practical understanding of EM/IR, ESD, and latch‑up issues in mixed‑signal layouts.
• Ability to own complex blocks independently and work with circuit and integration teams.

Nice‑to‑have:

• Experience contributing layout methodology, automation, or scripts (Python, Tcl, SKILL) to improve team productivity.

Education Requirements

Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent practical experience. The posting also indicates senior candidates typically have ~10+ years of relevant layout experience.
