Job Title

Mixed Signal Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for functional verification of mixed-signal logic and associated analog behavioral models to ensure designs meet specifications. Works within the verification team to develop and execute verification plans and environments for IP and SoC-level mixed-signal designs.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 4+ years experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years with a Master’s degree in ASIC/SoC verification (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Develop IP verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments for mixed-signal components.
  • Create and run system-level simulation models to verify functionality, power, and timing.
  • Execute constraint-random and directed tests to achieve coverage goals.
  • Replicate, root-cause, and debug presilicon issues; implement fixes and verification updates.
  • Collaborate with digital and analog architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams on architectural and microarchitectural features.
  • Document test plans and present technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
  • Maintain and improve verification infrastructure and methodology.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools:

  • Must: Proficiency in SystemVerilog, UVM, and Verilog for mixed-signal verification.
  • Must: Experience with industry EDA simulation/debug tools (examples: Synopsys VCS, Cadence Xcelium/JasperGold, Mentor Questa).
  • Must: Strong scripting skills (Python, Perl, or Tcl) for testbench automation.
  • Must: Knowledge of protocols and mixed-clock-domain designs (JTAG/IJTAG/CRI/APB and multi-clock domains).
  • Must: Expertise in constraint-random test generation, root-cause analysis, and debugging complex mixed-signal designs.
  • Nice-to-have: Mixed-signal IP validation experience and familiarity with low-power techniques (UPF, clock gating).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with formal property verification tools and version control systems (Git, Perforce, CVS).
  • Nice-to-have: Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, VLSI Engineering, or a related technical field. The role specifies 4+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years with a Master's degree.
