Job Title
Mixed Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
The Mixed-Signal Design Engineer will design, validate, and integrate analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed interface integrated circuits (low-jitter buffers, SERDES, CDR) using deep-submicron process nodes (28nm and below).
Work within a product team through the full development cycle — from specification and circuit synthesis to verification and product release.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically BSEE with 3+ years or MS/PhD with 2+ years of ASIC/mixed-signal design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define product requirements and translate them into circuit-level specifications.
- Synthesize and design analog and mixed-signal circuits from transistor/resistor level to system level.
- Perform simulation, modeling, validation, verification, and integration of mixed-signal ICs.
- Develop major functional blocks within larger products focused on high-speed interfaces.
- Create validation environments and analyze test results to diagnose and debug designs.
- Mentor and oversee the development of junior engineers.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience with high-speed custom circuit design in deep-submicron (DSM) processes.
- Strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuits (amplifiers, current/voltage references, ADC/DACs) and analog-digital interfaces.
- Experience with validation environment creation, behavioral modeling, and test result analysis.
- Prior experience with one or more of the following: PLL/CDR, PI, DFE/CTLE, TX circuits.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Design experience with FinFET technologies.
- SystemVerilog/RTL behavioral coding.
- Scripting and automation (TCL, Python) and C/C++ experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 3+ years of ASIC/mixed-signal design experience, or a Master’s/PhD with 2+ years in ASIC/mixed-signal design. (Degrees specified: BSEE, MS, PhD.)
