Mixed Signal Circuit Design Analysis & CAD Engineer (Temporary/Seasonal)
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Mixed Signal Circuit Design Analysis & CAD Engineer (Temporary/Seasonal)
Role Summary
Join the 3rd Party Analog Mixed Signal IP Design Analysis and CAD team to evaluate analog/mixed-signal IP from external vendors, ensure compliance with AMD design flows and manufacturing requirements, and prevent issues before silicon manufacturing.
The role combines hands-on pre-silicon analysis, verification, and development of automation tools and scripts, working closely with internal design teams and third-party IP vendors.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Specific years of experience were not provided.
Responsibilities
Perform pre-silicon analysis and verification of AMS IP, develop automation, and coordinate fixes with vendors and internal teams.
- Analyze electrical performance of analog/digital mixed-signal IP and assess integration into chip systems.
- Run and interpret LVS, DRC/ERC, topology checks, parasitic extraction, SPICE simulations, and static timing analysis at a conceptual level.
- Investigate flagged issues, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend fixes or escalations.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance scripts and test cases to automate IP design analysis workflows.
- Collaborate with 3rd-party IP vendors and AMD design teams globally to review analysis results and implement design fixes.
- Use physical verification and other EDA tools to validate layout and schematic compliance prior to manufacturing.
- Document and present analysis findings to cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
Core technical skills and capabilities expected for successful performance in the role.
- Must-have: Understanding of analog and digital transistor/device behavior and the hardware chip development lifecycle.
- Must-have: Scripting experience to develop maintainable automation (examples: Python, Perl, TCL).
- Must-have: Familiarity with UNIX/Linux command-line environments and basic automation workflows.
- Must-have: Working knowledge of EDA tools and pre-silicon verification concepts (LVS, DRC, parasitic extraction, SPICE concepts).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with HSPICE, Verilog or VHDL, C/C++, parasitic RC extraction, and static timing analysis.
- Nice-to-have: Experience implementing analysis automation, performing software/hardware root-cause investigations, and applying AI techniques to data analysis or automation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for coordinating across internal teams and external vendors.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
