Job Title

Mixed-Signal Circuit Design Analysis & CAD Engineer (Temporary/Seasonal)

Role Summary

Join the 3rd Party Analog Mixed Signal IP Design Analysis and CAD team to evaluate analog/mixed-signal IP from external vendors, develop analysis tools and automation, and ensure designs meet specifications and integrate into AMD chip flows.

The role focuses on pre-silicon verification (LVS, DRC/ERC, topology validation), physical verification, scripting and tooling, and cross-site collaboration to identify and resolve issues before manufacturing.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early-career. The position is training-oriented with mentorship; no specific years of experience are stated.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification, analysis, automation, and collaboration.

  • Perform pre-silicon analysis: LVS, DRC/ERC, topology validation, parasitic RC extraction, and basic EM/IR checks.
  • Analyze electrical performance of analog/digital mixed-signal IP and assess flagged issues for resolution or escalation.
  • Use physical verification and analysis tools to validate designs prior to integration and manufacture.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts and test cases to improve IP design analysis workflows.
  • Collaborate with 3rd-party IP vendors and internal AMD teams to review analysis results and drive design fixes.
  • Document and present analysis findings, workflows, and tooling improvements.
  • Leverage AI tools where appropriate to assist automation and validate analysis outputs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and competencies; degrees summarized separately in Education Requirements below.

  • Strong hardware and software aptitude with the ability to learn EDA tools and verification flows.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, TCL, or Perl to build maintainable automation.
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux command-line environments.
  • Conceptual knowledge or hands-on exposure to HSPICE, Verilog or VHDL, and transistor-level circuits and/or layout.
  • Ability to perform root-cause analysis for software and hardware design issues.
  • Good communication skills for vendor interactions and cross-site collaboration.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with C/C++, practical use of EDA verification tools, and prior work applying AI automation to engineering workflows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
