Microcontroller Sub-System Verification Engineer / Senior Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Microcontroller Sub-System Verification Engineer / Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Microcontroller Sub-System IP verification team to develop and validate embedded processing subsystems used across mobile, automotive, IoT, XR, and compute products. The role focuses on creating and executing verification plans, building UVM-based environments, and collaborating with design, architecture, SoC integration, and validation teams.
Experience Level
This posting covers both Engineer and Senior Engineer levels. Engineer: typically 2+ years of ASIC/SoC design verification experience. Senior Engineer: typically 5+ years of ASIC/SoC design verification experience. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include verification planning, environment development, debug, and integration support for microcontroller and subsystem IP.
- Develop and execute verification plans for microcontroller and subsystem IP.
- Create and maintain UVM-based verification environments, testbenches, and reusable components.
- Implement constrained-random and coverage-driven verification strategies; perform coverage analysis and drive closure.
- Debug simulation failures and perform root-cause analysis of design and verification issues.
- Support subsystem and SoC integration: test planning, test vector generation, and integration/debug activities.
- Collaborate with design, architecture, SoC integration, and validation teams to resolve issues.
- Contribute to verification methodology, flow improvements, automation, and apply formal techniques where appropriate.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required; senior candidates should show deeper technical leadership and autonomy.
Must-have:
- ASIC/SoC design verification experience (level and years per Experience Level).
- Experience with SystemVerilog and UVM-based verification methodologies.
- Experience developing constrained-random and coverage-driven verification environments.
- Strong debugging skills with RTL simulation and waveform debug tools.
- Scripting experience (Python, Perl, Shell, or similar) for testbench and flow automation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across multi-disciplinary teams.
Nice-to-have / Preferred:
- Experience verifying ARM or RISC-V processor or microcontroller subsystems.
- Familiarity with AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB).
- Experience with formal verification tools (e.g., JasperGold, VC Formal) and power-aware verification methodologies.
- SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA), gate-level simulation, low-power verification flows.
- Basic C/C++ programming knowledge; experience in complex SoC development environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Science, Engineering, or a related field is stated as a standard requirement. Alternative qualifications listed: Master's degree in a related field or PhD, with reduced years-of-experience expectations for higher degrees (examples in source: Bachelor's + 4+ years, Master's + 3+ years, PhD + 2+ years). The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of formal degrees.
