Job Title

Microarchitecture and Design Engineer - AI SoC

Role Summary

Join Intel's AI SoC organization to design and implement microarchitecture and RTL for system-on-chip products targeting AI workloads. The role focuses on RTL coding, microarchitecture feature definition, IP integration, and meeting power, performance, area, and timing (PPA/T) targets.

Work on cross-disciplinary teams to deliver validated, secure SoC logic blocks and support handoff from IP to full-chip integration.

Experience Level

Senior - expects substantial industry experience. Typical guidance from the posting: 9+ years with a Bachelor's, 6+ years with a Master's, or 5+ years with a PhD.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, verification support, and integration of SoC logic blocks.

  • Develop logic design, RTL (SystemVerilog) coding, and simulation for SoC components.
  • Define and implement microarchitecture and architecture features for logic blocks.
  • Optimize RTL to meet power, performance, area, and timing targets.
  • Perform quality checks across RTL, timing, power, and design integrity.
  • Integrate and validate IP at the SoC level in collaboration with IP providers.
  • Contribute to and review verification plans; identify and resolve RTL test failures.
  • Apply secure development practices to address security objectives in the design.
  • Drive quality-assurance compliance to ensure smooth IP-to-SoC handoffs.

Requirements

Key technical and professional requirements. Degree details are summarized under Education Requirements below.

Must-have:

  • Extensive experience in microarchitecture, RTL design, coding, and simulation using SystemVerilog.
  • Strong knowledge of system-level design principles, including PPA (power, performance, area) optimization.
  • Experience with timing and power convergence methodologies and associated tools.
  • Experience integrating and validating IPs at the SoC level and debugging RTL failures.
  • Familiarity with verification planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of secure development practices for logic design.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Nice-to-have / Preferred:

  • SoC architecture and microarchitecture experience.
  • Proficiency in clock-domain crossing analysis and implementation techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with quality-assurance practices in logic design.
  • Track record of disciplined execution and delivering under tight schedules.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is stated. The posting specifies experience equivalence: 9+ years with a Bachelor's, 6+ years with a Master's, or 5+ years with a PhD; experience may be obtained through a combination of degree, research, relevant job, or internship experience.
