Memory Layout Senior Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development of full‑custom memory layout for SRAM compilers within Marvell's Central Engineering group. Own floor‑planning through tape‑out, collaborate with circuit, architecture, and verification teams, and drive layout quality and manufacturability.
Experience Level
Senior — 8+ years of hands‑on SRAM compiler layout experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver and lead memory layout and verification activities, improve processes, and mentor engineers.
- Develop full‑custom memory layouts for SRAM compiler blocks and drive designs from floor‑planning to tape‑out.
- Perform and close physical verification issues: DRC, LVS, ERC, antenna checks; conduct EMIR analysis and mitigate IR drop and electromigration.
- Translate schematics into efficient, high‑performance layouts in collaboration with circuit and architecture teams.
- Lead layout reviews, mentor junior engineers, and establish best practices and design‑rule compliance.
- Create automation scripts (Perl, Tcl, SKILL) to improve productivity and consistency.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required or preferred.
- 8+ years of hands‑on SRAM compiler layout and full‑custom memory development experience.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor process technologies, device physics, and layout effects at advanced nodes.
- Experience with physical verification flows including EM, IR, LVS, DRC, and antenna analysis and closure.
- Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso and industry‑standard EDA tools.
- Scripting skills for automation (Perl, Tcl, SKILL) — beneficial for tool flow improvements.
- Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with global, cross‑functional teams.
- Self‑motivated, adaptable, and experienced in mentoring or leading junior engineers.
Education Requirements
BE / B.Tech or MS / M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related technical field.
