Memory Layout Design Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for physical layout of memory and digital blocks for SoC designs. Work with the SOC/library team to implement layouts that meet process rules, timing, and integration targets, and deliver end-to-end layout deliverables on schedule.
Experience Level
Mid-level; minimum 3+ years of relevant layout experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Interpret and apply layout guidelines, new process rules, and technical requirements for submicron processes.
- Plan and execute floor-planning, hierarchy layout, and chip integration for memory and digital blocks.
- Manage schedules, timelines, and deliverables for assigned layout tasks.
- Perform physical verification and resolve LVS/DRC/ERC, antenna, and electromigration issues.
- Lead technology reviews and document layout methodologies, flows, and guidelines.
- Mentor and train junior engineers; communicate effectively with SOC and library teams.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 3+ years of layout experience with strong knowledge of submicron processes (examples listed: 2nm, 3nm, 5nm, 7nm).
- Proficiency with Cadence layout tools (Virtuoso Layout, Layout XL/VXL/EXL) and Cadence schematic capture.
- Experience using Calibre verification tools and addressing LVS/DRC/ERC and related checks.
- Experience in digital layout (standard cell, memory, I/O); strong memory layout topology knowledge.
- Floor-planning, hierarchy layout, chip integration, and planning signal/power based on layout guidelines.
- Ability to lead projects, meet schedules, work independently, and collaborate across teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Analog layout experience.
- Experience with memory compilers.
- Script programming, SKILL, and automation/AI techniques in layout.
Education Requirements
