Job Title
Memory Layout Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver memory layout for advanced FinFET process nodes within the SoC and library teams. Produce high-quality layouts, ensure physical verification, and meet project schedules while mentoring junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 8+ years' experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6+ years with a Master's degree; expects proven leadership and independent delivery on complex memory layout projects.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include implementing layout, verifying designs, and coordinating delivery across teams.
- Apply layout guidelines, new process rules, and technical requirements for high-quality layouts.
- Plan floor‑planning and chip integration; manage schedules, timelines, and end-to-end deliverables.
- Perform physical verification and resolve DRC/LVS/ERC/Antenna/Electro Migration issues.
- Lead and train junior engineers; document layout methodologies, flows, and guidelines.
- Coordinate with SOC and library teams and participate in new-technology reviews.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Strong layout experience in advanced submicron FinFET processes (examples: TSMC 5nm, 3nm, 2nm or equivalent nodes).
- Proficiency with Cadence tools: Virtuoso Layout, Layout XL (VXL/EXL), and Cadence Schematic Capture.
- Experience with Calibre and Hercules for physical verification (DRC, LVS, ERC, Antenna, Softcheck errors).
- Demonstrated memory layout design experience and understanding of memory architecture and RC requirements for signal and power routing.
- Floor‑planning, hierarchical layout, and chip-integration skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects and schedules, and deliver end-to-end results.
- Ability to quickly adopt new methodologies and communicate effectively across teams; self-reliant and collaborative.
- Nice-to-have: experience with memory compilers, AI/layout automation, and scripting or SKILL programming.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (with approximately 8+ years' relevant experience) or Master's degree (with approximately 6+ years' relevant experience). The posting does not specify a required field of study or certifications.
