Memory Layout Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement memory layout for advanced CMOS process nodes, ensuring physical correctness and manufacturability. Work with SoC and library teams to produce start-to-end layout deliverables and integrate memory macros into chips.

Experience Level

Mid-level — minimum 3 years of relevant layout experience (posting specifies at least 3 years).

Responsibilities

The engineer will produce high-quality memory layouts, manage schedules, and coordinate with verification and SOC teams.

• Apply layout guidelines and new process rules to produce compliant layouts.
• Perform floor-planning, hierarchy layout, and chip integration for memory blocks.
• Manage scheduling, timelines, and deliverables from start to finish.
• Coordinate with schematic, verification, and SOC/library teams for integration and sign-off.
• Lead technology reviews and document layout methodologies, flows, and guidelines.
• Mentor and train junior engineers; support project management activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• Minimum ~3 years of hands-on layout experience in advanced CMOS processes.
• Strong memory layout and physical verification experience (LVS, DRC, ERC, antenna, electromigration).
• Proficiency with Cadence layout tools (Virtuoso XL/VXL/EXL) and Calibre verification tools.
• Experience with digital layout: standard cell, memory, and I/O layout and integration.
• Experience in floor-planning, hierarchy layout, and planning signal and power distribution per RC requirements.
• Ability to lead reviews, document flows, and work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Nice-to-have: analog layout experience, memory compilers, SKILL/scripting, and automation/AI for layout.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
