Job Title

Memory Circuit Designer

Role Summary

As a Memory Circuit Designer in Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering group you will design, optimize, verify and support bring-up of embedded memory (SRAM/ROM) for SoC products. You will work on circuit design, modeling, layout and silicon validation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet performance, power and yield targets.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typically 2–5 years of relevant experience; 3+ years in memory design preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include designing and validating memory circuits and collaborating across teams.

  • Architect, design and optimize embedded SRAM/ROM bit cells and peripheral circuits.
  • Develop and apply compiler-based approaches for SRAM/ROM generation.
  • Create and validate timing, power and critical-path models (RC, C, Pi, ladder, distributive).
  • Collaborate with layout, verification and silicon bring-up teams to achieve yield and retention targets.
  • Characterize bit-cell behavior (SNM, WM, cell current, standby current, data retention) and analyze process variability impacts.
  • Support IP integration, validation and documentation for SoC subsystems.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience.

  • Proven experience in memory circuit design and layout; hands-on embedded SRAM/ROM design experience.
  • Strong understanding of bit-cell characteristics, process variability and semiconductor physics relevant to memories.
  • Experience with critical-path modeling and timing/power analysis.
  • Experience working within IC technology/IP design flows and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with Cadence Virtuoso or equivalent analog/memory design tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related field with 2+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's in those fields with 1+ year of hardware engineering experience; OR PhD in those fields. Fields explicitly mentioned: Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related engineering disciplines.
