Job Title
Senior Memory Circuit Design Engineer β Rochester, MN
Role Summary
Join the Central Engineering Group to design and deliver memory compilers and custom memory macros for advanced process nodes. The role covers circuit-level design, transistor- and gate-level simulation, physical layout integration, characterization, and silicon correlation.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 5+ years of related industry experience.
Responsibilities
The engineer will take memory designs from architecture through silicon verification and support production-readiness.
- Analyze memory architectures and evaluate trade-offs.
- Design memory and circuit blocks at gate or transistor level (SRAM, register files, ROM, multi-port memories).
- Perform transistor-level simulations and circuit analysis.
- Extract layouts and run post-layout simulation and verification.
- Floorplan and integrate leafcell layouts to build physical macros.
- Integrate and run characterization flows to extract timing and power.
- Develop automation scripts for simulation, characterization, and verification.
- Specify and verify behavioral and physical memory models; document specifications and timing diagrams.
- Define silicon test plans and correlate silicon results to simulations; assist with silicon debug.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, plus a few desirable qualifications.
- Proven experience developing memory compilers or custom digital memory circuits (SRAM, register-files, multi-port, ROM).
- Strong understanding of transistor-level circuit behavior and device physics.
- Experience with signal integrity, EM/IR, and reliability analysis.
- Familiarity with memory behavioral and physical modeling and DFT/chip-level integration.
- Proficient with transistor-level simulators and automation scripting; tools-savvy for characterization flows.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; able to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Nice-to-have: hands-on silicon test setup experience and silicon debug skills.
Education Requirements
Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering.
