Job Title
Memory Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify memory circuits and macros as part of Central Engineering's memory team. The role focuses on transistor- and gate-level design, simulation, layout extraction, post-layout verification, characterization, and physical integration of memory compilers and custom memory blocks.
The engineer will collaborate with physical design, characterization, and silicon test teams to deliver memory macros for advanced process technologies.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include circuit design, verification, physical implementation, and automation for memory macros.
- Analyze memory architectures and evaluate design trade-offs.
- Design memory and circuit blocks at gate and transistor level (e.g., SRAMs, register files, ROMs, multi-port memories).
- Perform transistor-level simulations and circuit analysis.
- Extract layouts and run post-layout simulations and verification.
- Floorplan and integrate leafcell layouts to produce physical macros.
- Integrate and run characterization flows to extract timing and power data.
- Develop scripts and automation for characterization, simulation, and verification flows.
- Specify and verify behavioral and physical memory models.
- Document design specifications, behavioral descriptions, and timing diagrams.
- Define silicon test plans and correlate silicon results to simulation; assist with silicon debug.
Requirements
Essential technical skills for the role and items that strengthen candidacy.
-
Must-have: Experience developing memory compilers or custom digital memory circuits; strong transistor-level circuit knowledge and device physics; understanding of memory behavioral and physical models; familiarity with signal integrity, EM/IR, and reliability considerations; proficiency with circuit simulators and scripting for automation; ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and communicate results clearly.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with DFT schemes and chip-level integration; familiarity with silicon test setups and silicon debug; prior leadership or mentoring experience.
Education Requirements
Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 4+ years of related experience.
