Memory Circuit Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Memory Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design, model, optimize, verify, validate, implement, and document memory circuits and related ASIC/SoC IP. Work on embedded SRAM/ROM development and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready memory IP for high-performance, low-power products.
Experience Level
Entry-level - typically around 2+ years of ASIC or memory design experience (see Education Requirements for degree guidance).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and optimize embedded memory (SRAM/ROM) circuits and layouts.
- Model memory behavior and critical paths using RC, C, pi, ladder, distributive and related models.
- Develop memory using compiler-based approaches.
- Analyze bit cell characteristics (SNM, write margin, cell current, standby current, data retention).
- Evaluate process variability and semiconductor physics effects on memory design.
- Verify, validate, and document memory IP; integrate with SoC/block-level teams.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications:
- 2+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related experience with preference for memory design.
- Hands-on experience with embedded SRAM/ROM development and compiler-based flows.
- Strong understanding of digital and memory circuit design and layout practices.
- Knowledge of bit cell behavior and critical-path modeling techniques.
- Familiarity with process variability and semiconductor physics relevant to memory circuits.
- Affinity for IC technology and IP design.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with block/SoC IP development and cross-functional integration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of ASIC/design experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 1+ year of ASIC/design experience; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or a related field.
