Job Title

Member of the Technical Staff, Design Enablement PDK — Device Library Developer

Role Summary

Develop and maintain silicon photonics Process Design Kits (PDKs) with a focus on device library components and associated automation. Work within the Design and Technology Enablement team to produce techfiles and runtime code for Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools, validate PDK components, and document usage and limitations for customers.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Preferred experience guidance in the posting indicates ranges by degree: BS +6–7 years, MS +5–6 years, PhD +3–4 years.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include development, validation, documentation and support of PDK device libraries and related automation.

  • Design and implement device library components for PDKs.
  • Develop, deploy, support and maintain PDK techfiles and runtime code for EDA tool consumption.
  • Create and maintain automation tools representing the fab process.
  • Review and interpret process design rules and SPICE model documentation to derive PDK specifications.
  • Author and maintain test cases for DRC, LVS, PEX and related quality assurance checks.
  • Prepare and update release notes and application notes; document limitations and known issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support customer-facing deliveries.
  • Perform work in accordance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Nice-to-have / preferred technical skills:

  • Experience with CAD systems for electronics (e.g., Cadence IC, OrCAD) and Cadence Virtuoso/Skill is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Perl, Tcl, Bash) and Unix/Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of silicon photonics and semiconductor device theory is advantageous.
  • Experience with machine learning or generative AI is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent is required. Preferred qualifications reference MS or PhD with reduced years-of-experience thresholds (MS or PhD may substitute for additional experience). Equivalent practical experience may be considered. (Exceptions subject to local HR approval.)
