Member of Technical Staff (MTS) – HIG HBM Component Validation

Role Summary

Technical lead in Micron’s HBM Product Engineering Component Validation team responsible for defining and owning validation coverage strategy, leading complex product debug and failure analysis, and driving zero-escape validation across product milestones.

The role partners with Design, Design Validation, Reliability, Systems, and global validation sites to influence design-to-coverage decisions, mentor engineers, and set the technical direction for current and next-generation HBM products.

Experience Level

Senior-level: minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in the memory semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include validation strategy, debugging, test program guidance, and mentorship.

• Serve as technical authority for HBM component validation, translating DRAM/HBM design intent into validation coverage and test strategies.
• Define and own validation methodologies and coverage plans across structural and functional test flows; aim for zero validation escapes.
• Lead validation definition and closure for new or high-risk product features; coordinate with Design, DV, and Systems Engineering.
• Review design specifications, schematics, and datasheets; provide Product Engineering feedback in design and verification reviews.
• Run and interpret timing-accurate circuit simulations to reproduce silicon behavior and validate fixes.
• Lead root-cause and electrical failure analysis, produce decision-ready debug summaries for milestones and escalations.
• Guide development and validation of test programs across ATE platforms and in-house systems; promote test-time optimization and parallelism.
• Promote automation and modern tooling to reduce cycle time (code reuse, version control, scripting, simulation flows).
• Mentor and train engineers, deliver technical presentations, and represent the team in cross-functional forums.
• Adopt AI/GenAI tools and LLM-based workflows to accelerate coverage analysis, test code development, and failure analysis.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by concise nice-to-have items.

• Must-have: Deep working knowledge of DRAM and HBM architecture, operation, and design concepts.
• Extensive experience reading and debugging circuit schematics and isolating design-related failure mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience running and interpreting timing-accurate circuit simulations for silicon correlation and root-cause.
• Proven post-silicon product validation and electrical failure analysis experience.
• Proficiency programming with Python and C/C++; experience with Verilog and version control systems.
• Experience with ATE platforms and Algorithmic Pattern Generator (APG) concepts.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and technical presentation skills with demonstrated cross-functional influence.
• Nice-to-have: Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, high-speed I/O and signal-integrity validation.
• Experience defining validation coverage strategy and leading validation for HBM or advanced DRAM features.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading multi-site technical teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is specified; equivalent practical experience is accepted. The role expects substantial post-degree practical experience (minimum 10 years as stated).
