MCU System Architect (1)
RenesasJob Title
MCU System Architect (1)
Role Summary
Lead system-level architecture for next-generation microcontroller (MCU) products, defining CPU, memory, bus, peripheral, power, clock, security and safety features to meet market and customer requirements.
Work across hardware, firmware, and product-planning teams from product concept through mass production to optimize performance, power, area and cost for competitive MCU platforms.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires around 5+ years of practical experience in semiconductor product development (MCU/SoC/ASIC).
Responsibilities
The role owns MCU system architecture and drives product definition and technical decisions across the development lifecycle.
- Design system architecture for microcontroller products (CPU, memory, bus, peripherals, analog, security, communications).
- Analyze market and customer requirements to define product specifications and system configuration for next-generation MCUs.
- Propose hardware configurations that balance performance, power consumption, chip area and manufacturing cost.
- Evaluate and define specifications for new peripherals and features.
- Collaborate with semiconductor/hardware engineers, software/firmware engineers, and product planning to drive product development.
- Lead technical reviews and make architecture-level decisions within development projects.
- Contribute to MCU platform strategy and product roadmap planning.
Requirements
Required skills and experience are divided into must-have and nice-to-have items.
Must-have- Practical experience in semiconductor product development (MCU, SoC or ASIC), approximately 5+ years.
- Experience in at least one of: digital circuit design, embedded software development, or system design.
- Knowledge of embedded-system architecture including CPU, memory, bus and peripheral subsystems.
- Experience writing product specifications and requirement documents.
- Proven ability to lead and drive cross-functional product development projects.
- Direct experience in MCU or SoC system/architecture design and product specification definition.
- Familiarity with CPU architectures such as ARM or RISC-V.
- Knowledge of low-power design techniques, functional safety and security features.
- Experience with peripheral and interface technologies (CAN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, etc.).
- Track record of system-level problem analysis and proposing architectural solutions.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
