MCU Embedded Software Technical Lead
Role Summary
Technical lead responsible for defining software requirements, architecture, and design for Renesas 16/32-bit MCUs and related IoT, automotive, and connectivity products. Work with product, marketing, global development teams, partners, and customers to deliver scalable, reusable embedded software across the product lifecycle.
Experience Level
Senior-level technical lead. Candidates are expected to have substantial embedded software development and architectural experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include product-level software requirements through release, technical leadership, and quality assurance.
- Define software requirements and produce PRDs, architecture and design documents; review design and implementation.
- Translate market and customer needs into concrete software requirements and implementable technical specifications.
- Design and lead development of BSPs, device drivers, RTOS integration, connectivity middleware, OTA/FOTA, and sample applications.
- Manage traceability of requirements, design, implementation, testing, and release artifacts using tools such as Jira.
- Lead technical discussions with global development teams, partners, and customers to resolve technical issues and align requirements.
- Drive design reviews and technical decisions ensuring quality, extensibility, reuse, and maintainability.
- Promote CI/CD, test automation, and development process standardization to improve efficiency and quality.
- Improve developer and customer experience for embedded software and related development workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by concise nice-to-have items.
- Must-have: Practical experience developing embedded software in C.
- Experience with BSP, device drivers, RTOS, middleware, or communication stacks for MCU/SoC targets.
- Hands-on experience in software requirements definition, specification design, architecture design, and design reviews.
- Experience in debugging, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality improvements.
- Proven ability to coordinate with domestic and international stakeholders and form technical consensus.
- Experience creating technical documentation, progress tracking, issue management, and release activities.
- Self-directed learner who can apply new technologies to product development.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with FreeRTOS, AzureRTOS (ThreadX), Zephyr, Ethernet/Wi‑Fi/TCP‑IP/MQTT/TLS, bootloaders, launch-time optimization, multi‑OS coexistence, automotive or edge AI embedded development, customer/partner technical discussions, Python/Shell scripting, CI/CD and test automation, small-team technical leadership, or using AI for code development/review/testing.
