Job Title

Masters Hardware Design Verification Co-op/Intern (2027)

Role Summary

Intern/co-op role on AMD's hardware design verification team supporting high-end machine intelligence products. The student will work with senior engineers on verification, simulation, regression, system-level testing, and debugging to help deliver validated hardware and firmware.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” master's student (co-op/intern). This role is intended for students enrolled in a graduate program.

Responsibilities

Work on verification and validation tasks across simulation, system testing, and production validation.

  • Collaborate with engineers to develop and execute verification test plans and simulation cases.
  • Write scripts to track and manage compute resources; develop and test regression flows.
  • Support debugging and improvement of test cases, models, and RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
  • Evaluate and recommend tools and process improvements to increase simulation performance and team efficiency.
  • Build test platforms and perform system-level hardware/software testing and production validation.
  • Use software tools for low-level hardware/software testing and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Must-have: experience with Verilog and SystemVerilog and fundamental digital design concepts (FSMs, timing, registers).
  • Must-have: scripting or programming experience (Python, Perl, shell); familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Must-have: understanding of digital systems and computer organization; ability to debug hardware/software interactions.
  • Experience with simulation/regression flows and basic database scripting (e.g., MySQL) is beneficial.
  • Nice-to-have: C/C++, UVM, experience with build and test platforms, familiarity with Windows environments.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters; basic hardware assembly and driver installation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills to work in a team setting.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a U.S.-based master's program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Enrollment in a United States university is required for this position. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
