Manufacturing Operation Manager
Role Summary
Lead a team of engineers and technicians responsible for sustaining, troubleshooting, qualifying, and optimizing assembly and test manufacturing equipment in a high-volume semiconductor production environment. The role focuses on equipment availability, process stability, quality containment, and production performance.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 3+ years in manufacturing operations or equipment engineering, with at least 2 years of people management or supervisory experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for equipment performance, production support, and team leadership to meet safety, quality, and throughput targets.
- Own, sustain, troubleshoot, repair, qualify, and optimize assembly and test manufacturing equipment to meet uptime, yield, quality, and productivity targets.
- Drive equipment reliability and process improvements via root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, SPC, FMEA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead quality containment and excursion management: defect verification, early quality signal response, lot/hardware containment, disposition support, and corrective actions.
- Manage and coach a team of technicians: training, certification plans, shift schedules, staffing coverage, and performance management.
- Act as first responder for operational, safety, and security incidents within assigned toolsets or areas.
- Develop and execute tactical plans to streamline workflows and improve coordination across groups and divisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on factory health, installation, qualification, and ramp activities.
Requirements

- Minimum 3 years hands-on equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and sustainment in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of people management, team leadership, or supervisory experience, including coaching and workforce planning.
- Experience supporting manufacturing quality systems, including defect verification, containment, excursion management, and CAPA.
- Hands-on experience with equipment monitoring, process control, equipment qualification, and preventive maintenance.
- Knowledge and application of Statistical Process Control (SPC), root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5-Why, FMEA), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills in resolving equipment, process, and manufacturing issues in high-volume production.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to work with cross-functional and global teams and to drive operational improvements.
- Preferred: experience in semiconductor assembly and/or test manufacturing, equipment installation/qualification, and production ramp support.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Sciences, or a related technical discipline (commonly paired with 3+ years relevant experience). Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a related field (commonly paired with 2+ years relevant experience). Preferred items noted in the posting include a Master’s (technical or MBA) and Lean Six Sigma certification.
