Manufacturing Operation Engineer (Datacenter Platform)
Role Summary
Join the Data Center Platform Engineering team to lead manufacturing and test strategies for server platforms. The role partners with ODM/OEM customers and internal DIAG, hardware, tool, software and quality teams to drive NPI bring-up, validation, and production sustainment for CPU/GPU-based datacenter systems.
Experience Level
Mid-level. No specific years-of-experience guidance provided in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on defining and executing manufacturing assembly and test approaches from early design through volume production, supporting partner bring-up and improving yield.
- Partner with platform engineering and manufacturing operations to define end-to-end assembly and test strategies for ODM/OEM customers.
- Define and execute manufacturing test strategies with DIAG, hardware, tool, software, CQE and PQE teams.
- Develop test plans, coverage evaluations, mechanical test requirements, SOPs and sustaining guides.
- Design and deploy manufacturing test platforms, fixtures, jigs, and automated test workflows for contract manufacturers.
- Lead NPI bring-up, remote debug, onsite builds and sustaining production activities to improve yield.
- Analyze high-volume test data to identify root causes, reduce failures and drive yield improvements.
- Manage ECR/ECO processes for test and manufacturing procedure changes and align across teams.
- Assess partner test capacity and throughput to support production forecasts and ramp schedules.
- Coordinate test infrastructure (servers, performance monitoring, logs) prior to deployment to partners/customers.
Requirements
Looking for candidates with hands-on manufacturing/test engineering experience on complex electronic/server systems and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Must-have: Experience in manufacturing test engineering or production engineering for complex electronic products.
- Ownership of NPI and sustaining production, including test system design, deployment and support.
- Experience with CPU/GPU or other high-performance computing hardware and system-level bring-up.
- Experience designing test fixtures, hardware and automated test workflows.
- Ability to analyze high-volume yield/test data, isolate failure signatures and correlate across HW/SW/Diag.
- Proficiency with command-line operations, log analysis, file management and basic script automation.
- Skilled in writing test plans, SOPs, sustaining guides and managing ECR/ECO changes.
- Strong collaboration with DIAG, hardware, tools, software development, and quality engineering teams.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with server thermal/mechanical chassis testing, environmental stress testing (thermal cycling, burn-in), and familiarity with large-scale partner/ODM test environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or comparable disciplines.
