Manufacturing Design Engineer (eBeam – Systems)
Role Summary
Member of the KLA eBeam operations team within Global Operations. The role focuses on enabling manufacturing at scale by integrating advanced Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) systems with manufacturing processes, design teams, suppliers and field support.
Primary responsibilities include system troubleshooting, process development, design-for-manufacturability input, data-driven modeling, and cross-disciplinary project work with occasional field travel.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early Career. Typical candidate has about 2+ years of systems engineering or related experience; strong entry-level master’s candidates are encouraged.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical and operational improvements for SEM-based manufacturing systems.
- Independently diagnose and resolve complex system-interaction issues on advanced SEM instruments.
- Analyze data and build models to optimize processes, specifications, and designs.
- Provide design-for-manufacturability (DFM) feedback to design engineers to improve production efficiency.
- Create, execute, and maintain testing and troubleshooting procedures for complex systems.
- Plan and lead cross-disciplinary projects from inception to completion.
- Provide global field support and supplier escalation resolution; travel up to 25% for "fly-and-fix" assignments.

Core skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.
- 2+ years experience in systems engineering or a related field; strong entry-level master’s candidates considered.
- Expert troubleshooting skills, experimental setup experience, and practical modeling/data-analysis ability.
- Ability to present technical solutions to design teams and communicate effectively with divisional leadership.
- Experience building test procedures and executing process development for complex electromechanical systems.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with vacuum systems, electron optics, and high-voltage systems.
- Willingness to travel internationally for field support (up to 25%).
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum-qualification guidance maps degrees to experience expectations: Ph.D. (0 years), Master’s (or 1 year relevant work experience), Bachelor’s (or 2 years relevant work experience).
