Role Summary
Lead a first-level hardware engineering team responsible for RTL microarchitecture, RTL implementation, and verification of high-speed interconnect IP. Own end-to-end delivery from specification through tape-out and ensure first-pass silicon success. Onsite role reporting to the VP of Hardware Engineering in Santa Clara.
Baya Systems is a Series B startup designing software-driven interconnect IP and platforms for data center, AI, automotive, and edge markets.
Experience Level
Senior-level — 8+ years industry experience in ASIC/IP development, with at least 2–3 years in a technical leadership or management role.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of 8–12 RTL and design verification engineers.
- Drive microarchitecture, RTL design, and implementation for high-speed interconnect IP blocks.
- Oversee verification strategy: develop coverage-driven plans, UVM/OVM environments, constrained-random tests, and formal checks.
- Coordinate with architecture, physical design, and system teams to meet power, performance, area (PPA), and timing targets.
- Lead efforts for emulation, silicon bring-up readiness, and first-pass silicon goals.
- Establish engineering metrics, standard methodologies, and project management practices to meet tape-out milestones.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications:
- 8+ years of ASIC/IP industry experience with 2–3 years in a technical leadership role.
- Proven RTL and verification expertise; strong proficiency in SystemVerilog and Verilog.
- Experience with industry-standard EDA simulation and synthesis flows.
- Deep understanding of verification methodologies (UVM/OVM), constrained-random testing, formal verification, and coverage analysis.
- Strong background with high-speed protocols and SerDes technologies (PCIe, UCIe, CXL, Ethernet, or similar).
- Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced startup environment and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with emulation platforms and tape-out readiness practices.
- Microarchitecture experience for interconnect or SoC fabric design.
- Prior domain experience in data center, AI, automotive, or edge SoC applications.
Education Requirements
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
