Job Title

Machine Learning Engineer

Role Summary

Design, develop, optimize, and deploy machine learning models and tooling to improve FPGA compiler performance (timing closure, resource utilization, power). Work at the intersection of ML and compiler/toolchain development and deliver production-ready solutions integrated into the FPGA design flow.

Collaborate with hardware architects, software engineers, IP developers, and customers to define metrics, run benchmarks across FPGA families, and operationalize ML-based optimizations.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 10+ years of experience in machine learning development, model optimization, or ML systems engineering.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include developing ML-based compiler optimizations and producing production-ready tooling and benchmarks.

  • Develop and optimize ML models to improve compiler outcomes (placement, routing, synthesis, timing, resource use, power).
  • Evaluate and integrate models and frameworks (e.g., graph neural networks, reinforcement learning; PyTorch, TensorFlow) for compiler tasks.
  • Build tools, scripts, and CI/CD workflows to automate model conversion, quantization, pruning, and deployment compatible with EDA tools such as Quartus.
  • Collaborate with FPGA architects, internal teams, and customers to gather requirements and define success metrics.
  • Design and execute benchmarks across FPGA families (e.g., Agilex, Stratix) to measure compile time, quality of results, and scalability.

Requirements

Concise list of required and preferred qualifications.

  • Must-have: 10+ years of experience in machine learning development, model optimization, or ML systems engineering.
  • Must-have: Production or research experience with C++ and Python.
  • Must-have: Eligible for any required U.S. export authorizations.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Agile methodologies, AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot), and high-performance computing environments.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with edge AI inference on FPGAs and neuro-symbolic AI techniques.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience presenting technical results at conferences and strong cross-functional communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
