Job Title

LTD RET/OPC Design Rule and Technology Definition Engineer

Role Summary

Work on the RET DR and Technology Definition team to enable advanced-node patterning and extend the limits of feature sizes for Intel Foundry. The role applies lithography manufacturing tools, design-rule definition, and data-driven workflows to support design–process co-optimization (DTCO) and design-for-yield (DFY).

This is a technical engineering role combining software/automation development, data systems, and collaboration with process and design teams to drive technology definition and yield improvements.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The position expects several years of professional semiconductor or related engineering experience (varies by degree and background); candidates typically have multiple years of industry experience working on engineering tools, data platforms, or process/design enablement.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities focus on enabling technology and design rule development through tools, data, and collaboration.

  • Develop software, automation frameworks, and engineering tools to support process and design teams.
  • Create and maintain structured data models, metadata frameworks, and configuration-managed data systems for technology definition.
  • Design and implement automation workflows, APIs, and data pipelines that integrate with engineering workflows.
  • Use lithography and patterning tool knowledge to support design-rule development and DTCO activities.
  • Collaborate with process, device, and design teams to translate manufacturing constraints into actionable design rules and technology definitions.
  • Apply data-driven methods and tooling to improve yield, quality, and design manufacturability.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role.

  • Professional hands-on experience developing software, automation frameworks, data systems, or engineering infrastructure in a technical environment.
  • Experience designing and maintaining structured data models, metadata frameworks, databases, knowledge repositories, or configuration-managed data systems.
  • Familiarity with source control and repository management systems (Git, GitLab, GitHub, or equivalent).
  • Experience developing automation workflows, APIs, data pipelines, or software tools used by engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of AI/LLM technologies and their application to knowledge management, data extraction, workflow automation, or decision support.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multiple technical disciplines.

Nice-to-have / Preferred:

  • Experience with semiconductor physical design, layout methodologies, or design rule development.
  • Experience with process design rules, patterning technologies, or DTCO methodologies.
  • Experience developing data and automation platforms for semiconductor technology development.
  • Experience with graph databases, knowledge graphs, semantic search, vector databases, or AI-enabled knowledge repositories.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native development, data orchestration frameworks, and modern software engineering practices.

Education Requirements

Degree and experience combinations accepted: Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. The posting specifies experience expectations that vary by degree (for example, multi-year professional experience is required depending on the degree level). Equivalent practical experience obtained through industry work, internships, coursework, or research is also considered.
