Job Title

Logic Designer and FPGA Team Leader

Role Summary

Lead and grow an FPGA engineering group responsible for FPGA/RTL architecture, design, implementation, verification, and hardware bring‑up for life‑saving medical systems. Work within the hardware engineering organization and as a key member of product architecture teams to deliver safe, validated FPGA solutions in a regulated environment.

The role combines hands‑on FPGA technical leadership with people management, cross‑functional coordination, and ownership of delivery and quality for FPGA subsystems.

Experience Level

Senior - requires at least six years of FPGA/RTL development experience and more than two years of team management experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, team development, and delivery of FPGA-based subsystems for medical devices.

  • Lead and grow a team of FPGA designers; mentor engineers and manage performance and hiring.
  • Define and drive FPGA architecture and implementation for product features.
  • Develop and review RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog), constraints, and timing closure strategies.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional work with hardware, software, verification, and system teams.
  • Oversee synthesis, implementation, and static timing analysis using tools such as Vivado and Quartus.
  • Support hardware bring‑up and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, JTAG, and BERT.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory and safety requirements for medical devices.
  • Manage cross‑platform integration and collaborate on system architecture decisions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, leadership experience, and domain knowledge.

  • At least six years of FPGA/RTL design experience with hands‑on RTL development.
  • More than two years of experience managing or leading engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with synthesis and implementation flows (Vivado, Quartus).
  • Deep understanding of Static Timing Analysis and constraints (XDC/SDC), and clocking strategies.
  • Hands‑on hardware bring‑up and debugging experience (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG, BERT).
  • Familiarity with PCIe, SerDes protocols, and signal‑processing algorithms.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and a basic understanding of SI/PI and thermal/power considerations.
  • Proven ability to manage cross platforms, technologies, and delivery in a regulated environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Artix‑7 or Kintex UltraScale+ devices.
  • Prior work in medical devices or other regulated industries.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
