RTL Design Jobs, Level - Mid-Career

Job Title

Logic Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join Microsoft Silicon (CSME within SCHIE) to design and integrate RTL for SOC clock controllers used in Microsoft Azure cloud hardware. The role focuses on microarchitecture and logic implementation, cross-team integration (verification, physical design, DFT), and delivering production-quality IP and SoC partitions.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically 1–3+ years of relevant engineering experience; preferred candidates often have 2+ years of logic design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include RTL development, verification interfacing, and ensuring design quality for clock controller IP and related functional blocks.

  • Develop and integrate functional RTL blocks for SoC clock controllers.
  • Perform design quality checks: timing closure, lint, CDC, synthesis, and low-power intent analysis.
  • Use AI and scripting to improve development efficiency and automate tasks.
  • Collaborate with verification, physical design, and DFT teams to deliver qualified physical partitions and resolve trade-offs.
  • Create and run basic tests and debug features at IP and SoC levels.
  • Deliver high-quality functional blocks on schedule and maintain professional engineering practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical capabilities and program requirements. Education degree requirements are listed separately below.

  • Practical experience writing RTL and familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog coding constructs.
  • Experience with design flows including synthesis, timing constraints, and timing closure; familiarity with lint, CDC, and low-power intent checks.
  • Ability to write tests, debug at IP/SoC levels, and automate workflows with scripting.
  • Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and meet export-control related citizenship/verification requirements.
  • Nice-to-have: prior experience designing clock controller IP, UPF/low-power methodology, formal equivalence verification, power analysis, and familiarity with ARM interfaces and front-end toolchains.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 1+ year technical engineering experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 2+ years technical engineering experience; OR equivalent practical experience.
